September started off with three great concerts at the fun winery just a couple miles from our home. We had both daughters with us over the Labor Day weekend and on Labor Day we saw The Goo Goo Dolls. Our eldest had her awesome boyfriend, Spencer, with her. We had fun and so far, so good.

A few day s later we saw Neil Young! In my life, he has been a steady sound in my head and a source of words that have run through my head often. As a young teen, my dad and I would sit in the living room looking out at the sunset and listen to Harvest and After the Goldrush. Good memories.
Often, we would then listen to Late for the Sky. And less than a week after seeing Neil Young we saw Jackson Browne! Pretty awesome to see those two at the end of a very nice summer of music that began with James Taylor. Sweet Baby James was another album we listened to there on the couch. Man, some huge influences on me. How fortunate to see them all in one summer!
Somewhere in the middle of the month my colleague Ko and I rode 60 miles from Snohomish to the north end of the Centennial Trail here in Washington. It was the first time we had been riding up there and it was really wonderful. Deep forest, farmlands, and a few nice places to stop and eat and rest.
I bought a gravel bike. I am going to begin preparing for old age by bring some bikepacking back into my life. I can ride from our garage to some really beautiful places. Next spring I am going to get that going. For now, I got this beautiful Diverge.

The new 2025/26 school year started and I got to meet some very nice new faculty. I also did a few workshops. As part of the start of the year we kinda decorated our offices.

On the 20th, my wife slipped in the shower and fractured a Lumbar Transverse Process. Lots of pain and she is still, 10 days later, moving really slowly. It could have been much, much worse. She should have a full recovery, but it may be weeks more till she is able to walk freely and move easily.
So that has been what I have been doing these last ten days of September.

I am excited for October as the Teaching & Learning on the Open Web community has Gardner Campbell visiting and I get to continue planning the Creative Pedagogies event in November.
So the month had some real ups and downs and well I guess that is the way it goes.
