What does a week of work look like in an online class? Read some book? Watch some lecture? Respond to a couple classmates in a discussion? Take some quiz? Yeah, that sounds close right?
Quality Matters might tell us to make sure we explain the weekly objectives clearly. So we do. We might have a nice video from the instructor explaining what we will do that week. So we have.
And in text. This week in this class you accomplish these objectives.
- Assess what you already know about basic planetary geology
- Discuss why these tools may be useful in online learning
- Ask questions about our ability to use Mars as a place to live
- Apply your learning in a meaningful way 🙂
Formative Assessment is a good thing. So we give them a quiz that allows us to see what they already know and what they need help with. And we actually use that information to guide them through the work for the week.
